Mario Marathon 6

Who doesn’t enjoy a good Mario game? No one? Yeah that’s what I thought. Every gamer has a place in their heart for some Mario gaming action and this upcoming gaming marathon will deliver that action and then some. Even for those who don’t game it’s well worth watching and getting involved because it’s all in aid of the Child’s Play charity.

Since 2008 a group of like-minded friends have come together and played as many Mario games as they can, all while raising money for charity. In their first year they raised an impressive $11,767 for Child’s Play and in recent years they have raised well over $100,000.

mm-sgIf you are familiar with gaming marathons you already know what to expect generally speaking. There will be Mario, there will be money raised…there will also be costumes, dancing, singing, maybe some form of musical instrument, couch pigs, perhaps a trip to White Castle, maybe a puppet show, occasionally fortunes are told, you might even see a grown man attempt to juggle peanut butter and jelly jars because why not? The point I am making is you never really know what to expect as far as entertainment goes.

The wheel of awesome is hopefully making a return this year. The premise is each time a donation goal is met (let’s say every $1000) the wheel of awesome is spun and everyone in the room must do whatever the wheel lands on. Once the wheel has spoken, hilarity often follows. Here is a small example of the wheel of awesome in action:

In case that wasn’t enough, there are also prizes up for grabs every once in a while. In previous years these have often been hand made crafts the Mario Marathon community have created and sent to the team. This year, we will just have to wait and see!
